Growth Strategy Process: From Analysis to Execution

This is how I work with my clients to build growth engines. A five-phase process that starts with deep diagnosis and ends with a self-sustaining growth system.

Phases 1-3 are intensive discovery; phases 4-5 are where the real value compounds.

Step 1: Growth Diagnostic

Duration: Weeks 1-2

I start by identifying your growth bottleneck using a constraint-based diagnostic adapted from Goldratt's Theory of Constraints. Is the constraint in market demand, sales conversion, delivery capacity, cash flow, talent, or leadership bandwidth? Most companies are solving the wrong problem — I make sure you solve the right one.

Deliverables

  • Constraint identification report
  • Growth bottleneck analysis
  • Baseline KPI snapshot

Step 2: Market & Competitive Analysis

Duration: Weeks 2-3

I size your serviceable obtainable market (SOM), map the competitive landscape, and identify unmet customer needs. This goes beyond generic TAM figures — I use bottom-up analysis with Statistics Canada data, competitor positioning, and customer segment willingness-to-pay analysis.

Deliverables

  • Market sizing report
  • Competitive landscape map
  • Customer segment profiles

Step 3: Growth Strategy Design

Duration: Weeks 3-4

I design a growth strategy that addresses all four revenue levers: acquisition, expansion, retention, and pricing. Most companies focus only on acquisition. A 10% improvement across all four levers compounds to a 46% revenue increase without adding a single new customer. I build this into your strategy.

Deliverables

  • Growth strategy document
  • Revenue lever analysis
  • Quarterly growth roadmap

Step 4: Execution & Go-to-Market

Duration: Months 2-6

Strategy without execution is just a wish. I work with your team to implement growth initiatives — launching campaigns, optimizing sales processes, building partnership programs, and refining pricing. I take a hands-on role to ensure the strategy translates into revenue.

Deliverables

  • Campaign launches
  • Sales process optimization
  • Partnership playbook
  • Pricing recommendations

Step 5: Scale & Institutionalize

Duration: Months 4-12+

We embed the growth systems into your organization so they operate without my ongoing involvement. This includes setting up dashboards, weekly growth review cadences, and team accountability structures. The goal is a self-sustaining growth engine.

Deliverables

  • Growth dashboard
  • Weekly review process
  • Team playbook
  • Exit readiness assessment

Why This Process Works

Most growth strategies fail because they skip the diagnostic. Companies invest in marketing when the real constraint is delivery capacity, or optimize sales when the problem is pricing. This process forces you to identify the true bottleneck before spending a dollar on solutions.

By targeting all four revenue levers — not just acquisition — the strategy produces compounding results. The weekly growth review cadence keeps the team aligned and accountable, turning strategy from a document into a discipline.
