Startup Advisory: Ali Sedighi’s Framework from Idea to Launch
This is how I work with my clients to build startups. A structured framework that guides founders from raw idea to launched business with traction.
Visual Process Overview
Phases 1-3 are about de-risking; phases 4-6 are about acceleration.
Phase 1: Idea Validation & Market Fit
Duration: Weeks 1-3
I pressure-test your idea against three criteria: Is there a real problem worth solving? Is the market large enough to build a business around? Can you build a defensible solution? We conduct customer discovery interviews, competitive analysis, and preliminary market sizing to validate or pivot before you invest significant time or money.
Deliverables
- Problem validation report
- Market sizing estimate
- Customer discovery insights
Phase 2: Business Model Design
Duration: Weeks 2-4
I help you design a business model that is both viable and scalable. This includes revenue model selection (subscription, transactional, marketplace, etc.), pricing strategy, unit economics analysis, customer acquisition cost projections, and lifetime value modeling.
Deliverables
- Business Model Canvas
- Unit economics model
- Pricing strategy
- Revenue projection
Phase 3: MVP Definition & Product Strategy
Duration: Weeks 3-6
We define the minimum viable product — the smallest possible version of your solution that delivers value to early customers. I help you prioritize features, define the product roadmap, and make build-vs-buy decisions for your technology stack.
Deliverables
- MVP requirements document
- Product roadmap
- Technology stack recommendation
Phase 4: Funding Strategy & Preparation
Duration: Weeks 4-8
If fundraising is part of your plan, I help you prepare: investor pitch deck, financial model, data room, and target investor list. I also advise on alternative funding paths including government grants, revenue-based financing, and bootstrapping strategies.
Deliverables
- Investor pitch deck
- Financial model
- Data room
- Investor target list
Phase 5: Launch & Go-to-Market
Duration: Weeks 6-12
I help you plan and execute the launch: defining your early adopter profile, selecting launch channels, setting up measurement frameworks, and executing the initial go-to-market motion. The goal is to get paying customers and real feedback as quickly as possible.
Deliverables
- GTM plan
- Launch calendar
- KPI dashboard
- Early adopter program design
Phase 6: Growth & Iteration
Duration: Months 3-12+
Post-launch, I help you interpret early data, iterate on the product and go-to-market strategy, and build the team and systems needed for scale. This phase is about finding product-market fit and then accelerating once you have it.
Deliverables
- Growth roadmap
- Iteration framework
- Team hiring plan
- Scaling milestones
Why This Process Works
Most startups fail not because the idea was bad, but because they skipped the foundational work. They build a product nobody wants, raise money before proving traction, or scale before finding product-market fit. This framework forces you to validate before you build, and to measure before you scale.
I have founded multiple companies myself — including Conv.ca and MyAutomation.ca — so this is not theoretical. I know what the founder journey feels like and I bring that practical experience to every engagement. The process is structured enough to provide clear direction but flexible enough to adapt as you learn.
